7th International Conference 'Technologies for the Design and Construction of Energy-Efficient Buildings (Passive House)'

The 7th International Conference ‘Technologies for the Design and Construction of Energy-Efficient Buildings (Passive House)’ took place on 11-12 April at MosBuild and was co-organised by the Passive House Institute Russia. As in previous years, the event brought together leading manufacturers of building materials and heating equipment, design and architectural firms, construction companies and research organisations. Over 40 speakers presented papers to an audience of about 150.      

 

The conference looked at the development and introduction of energy-saving technology in the Russian construction industry based on Western European experience; the application of modern heat insulating materials in passive houses; energy-saving windows; thermal bridge identification and hermetic sealing of buildings; ventilation systems with high heat and moisture recuperation; the use of the sun and soil as renewable energy sources; and innovative building management systems.  

 

The participants also discussed the implementation of new pilot residential and public building projects, the concept of energy efficient regions and towns, and ways of reducing energy consumption and improving the environmental situation in the country.      

 

The conference audience was able to assess the prospects of the Passive House concept based on examples of recently completed projects in Russia that use the participating companies’ products. The concept is becoming more widespread in low-rise residential construction, and in Russia there are also examples of office and multi-apartment buildings with Passive House elements.     

 

The conference was divided into four sections over two days.

• Section №1: Thermal insulation sealing of passive houses and buildings with low energy consumption, and reducing the effect of thermal bridges. Renovation of old buildings.

• Section №2: Window and door structures for passive houses, installation and connection. Hermetic sealing. Measurement. Calculation methods.

 

12 April 2012
 

• Section №3: Plumbing and heating equipment and ventilation.

• Section №4: Examples of completed projects in Russia, the CIS and Western Europe.
