Impressive Results of KazBuild 2005

The 12th Kazakhstan International Exhibition of Construction and Interiors, Heating and Ventilation KazBuild 2005, the largest one in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, was completed on 10 September 2005 in Almaty.

The Exhibition spread 14,625 sqm; all the Atakent Exhibition Centre pavilions were engaged as well as the entire space outside the pavilions. The exhibition was attended by about 16,000 people. It is noteworthy that as early as in March 2005 all the available show areas had been booked for KazBuild 2005.

Exhibiting at KazBuild 2005 were 534 companies from 24 countries of the world (Austria, Belarus, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kyrgyz Republic, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, UK, Ukraine and Uzbekistan).

Along with company expositions, the exhibition featured national stands of Germany, South Korea and Finland. With the support from the Ministry of Economy and Labour of the Republic of Poland, participation of over 25 Polish construction companies was organised. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Barcelona made its debut participation in the Exhibition.

The Exhibition was opened by Mr. Edward Strachan, Regional Director for Kazakhstan, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey, and St. Petersburg, ITE Group; Mr. Yakov I. Zayats, First Deputy Akim (Mayor), Almaty; Mr. Kalyk A. Abdullayev, Chairman, Board of Directors, Atakent Exhibition Centre; Mr. Kazbek K. Baimyshev, Head, Standards and Technological Innovations Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, RK; Mr. Baron Marshall, Resident Representative of the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany in Kazakhstan; Mr. Wladislaw Sokolowski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland in Kazakhstan; Mr. Taner Seben, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey in Kazakhstan; Ms. Fulvia Lusini, Commercial Attache, Embassy of Italy in Kazakhstan; Mr. Pak Soun-Ho, Commercial Attache, Embassy of South Korea in Kazakhstan; and Mr. Valentin Molodtsov, Deputy Commercial Representative of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan. Present at the opening ceremony were also representatives of other diplomatic missions and mass media.

From next year on, the traditional KazBuild Exhibition (Construction and Interiors, Heating and Ventilation) is to be held biannually, announced at the KazBuild 2005 Opening Ceremony Mr. Edward Strachan, Regional Director for Kazakhstan, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey, and St. Petersburg, ITE Group. KazBuild having been previously held only in autumn, now the event will take place in spring-time as well, noted Mr. Strachan. He emphasised that the decision was made due to the companies' ever growing interest in the Project. "It is Kazakhstan and the KazBuild Exhibition that more and more customers of ours all over the world wish to come to and present their innovations at".

Besides, continued Mr. Strachan, one of the important factors of the decision to hold KazBuild yet in spring was the fact that at that particular time of the year construction season would commence. "The additional argument in favour of holding both vernal and autumnal exhibitions has been the characteristic seasonal variability of sales in the construction industry. For example, in autumn heating systems sell very well and in spring — air conditioners and ventilation units, and many other items. Now all those wishing to participate in the Exhibition will be able to choose the most suitable season for marketing their innovations. KazBuild Spring 2006 is earmarked to be held on 9–11 March 2006. Its exhibition area is expected to amount to 8,000 sqm with participation of 350 companies from 20 countries of the world," he said.

The significance of KazBuild 2005 has been determined by the broad geography of its exhibitors and the wide spectrum of modern construction materials, technologies, and services presented by them. For example, the exhibitors mentioned the following industry innovations to be presented at KazBuild 2005. Aitin of Belarus claimed that presented at the exhibition would be lamps of singular design employing mirror components (Miro series), ceramic lamps (Cerama series), etc. Contact of Russia will offer to KazBuild 2005 new designs of floor ceramic tiles imitating authentic natural materials, i.e. cork (fancy), wood (bamboo, ash-tree), and leather. Kazakhstani companies will present single-layer gypsum board (Polymix), steel panel radiators designed for self-contained heating systems (SanTechProm), and a lot more.

Especially noteworthy is the participation in the event of Kazakhstani companies whose share accounts for 31% of the total number of exhibitors (about 200 companies). It is remarkable that about 40% of the total number of the Kazakhstani companies are producers which is almost twice as many as their previous year count; also the activity of companies should be noted: of Turkey — 1.4% of the total exhibitors; Russia — 10.6%; Germany — 9.5%; and Poland — 8.7%.

The organisers point out that, taken as a whole, the exposition of KazBuild 2005 has increased by 15% as compared with the preceding year. The greatest dynamics can be observed in the Interiors, Decoration and Design Section where the occupied area has grown up by 24%, and in the Construction Section — a 37% increase.

In numbers and facts the brief summary of KazBuild 2005 looks as follows:

  • 15,847 specialists visited the Exhibition over the four days;
  • 31% of the polled visitors made contracts directly during the Exhibition;
  • 82% of the exhibitors noted that the visitors' specialisation lived up to their expectations;
  • 80% of the visitors confirmed their intent to visit the Exhibition next year;
  • 30% of the exhibitors made contracts directly during the Exhibition;
  • 52% of the visitors are planning to obtain the yield from the Exhibition within the proximate 1–3 months;

It is noteworthy that about 2% of the exhibitors daily provided explanation on their products and services to more than 500 specialists;
  • 30% of the exhibitors confirmed their participation in KazBuild Spring 2006 and 60% — in KazBuild 2006.
